‘Feeling Great’- Deepak Chahar Shares His Thoughts On Being Picked Up By Mumbai Indians

The IPL 2025 mega auction brought significant changes to team rosters, with big names like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul joining new franchises. Among them was Indian pacer Deepak Chahar, who made headlines with his move.

After years of representing Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Chahar was picked up by Mumbai Indians (MI) during the auction on Monday, November 25. The five-time champions secured him for INR 9.25 crore.

Chahar, who has played 81 IPL matches, boasts 77 wickets with an economy rate of 7.98. Expressing his excitement about the move, the star bowler shared his joy at joining the Mumbai Indians squad.

“Feeling great going from one great franchise to another franchise. I think Mumbai suits swing and my style and there’s some seam movement. So, good to be part of this franchise.”

“All good. Whatever role the team gives me I will do it. I just want to win the trophy. At CSK, I didn’t get much opportunity to bat but with the Indian team, I’ve done well with the bat,” Chahar told the broadcasters.

Mumbai Indians aim for their sixth IPL championship

Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians have faced a streak of bad luck in recent seasons. Ahead of the IPL 2024, the team announced star all-rounder Hardik Pandya as their new captain, replacing veteran Rohit Sharma.

Despite the leadership change, Mumbai struggled throughout the season, winning only four out of 14 matches and losing the remaining 10. They finished at the bottom of the table with just eight points. However, with some high-profile signings, the team will be looking to bounce back stronger in the 2025 season.

Mumbai Indians have won the IPL trophy in the following years:

  1.  2013 – Defeated Chennai Super Kings in the final.
  2. 2015 – Defeated Chennai Super Kings again in the final.
  3. 2017 – Edged out Rising Pune Supergiant in a thrilling final.
  4. 2019 – Defeated Chennai Super Kings in a nail-biting final.
  5. 2020 – Defeated Delhi Capitals to clinch their fifth title.
