The rivalry between India and Pakistan dates back to years in the history of cricket. The rivalry has shaped up in different phases in international cricket. The Men in Green had a wood over their neighbours throughout the 80s and mostly throughout the 90s.

However, since the turn of the century, India started winning against Pakistan more under Sourav Ganguly’s captaincy. It was carried on by MS Dhoni during his captaincy tenure and now being continued by Virat Kohli. The most interesting stat between these two nations is that Pakistan has never beaten India in the 50-over World Cup.

Meanwhile, the intensity has been extremely high whenever both teams have gone up against each other. On-field fights between cricketers from India and Pakistan are nothing new. However, there have been instances when actions from cricketers of both sides of the border have touched the heart.

Here are the five friendly moments between India and Pakistan:

1) Wasim Akram’s gift for Sachin Tendulkar

India vs Pakistan tests have been thoroughly entertaining in the past. The 1999 Test series played in India between the two sides is one of the best cricketing battles between the two sides. A few days before the Chennai Test, Sachin Tendulkar was awarded the Padma Shri award, which is the fourth highest civilian award.

Wasim Akram did not miss the opportunity to congratulate him on this occasion. He also gifted him a bat which remains one of the greatest gestures made by a Pakistan cricketer towards his Indian counterpart.

2) India and Pakistan Players All Smiles After 2017 Champions Trophy Final

Pakistan beat India in 2017 Champions Trophy final to script one of the most memorable wins in the history of cricket. Fakhar Zaman scored 114 to help Pakistan win the game in one of the most coveted comebacks.

Meanwhile, after the game, the players from both camps were seen sharing a light moment as they had heartfelt conversations with smiles on their faces.

3) Chennai Crowd’s Standing Ovation

The 1999 Test match between the two sides was one of the best test matches between the two sides. Pakistan won the match by just 12 runs, as India lost last four wickets for only four runs.

After the end of the game, the Chennai crowd gave a standing ovation to Pakistan for winning the game and showing a competitive attitude throughout the game. Pakistan, in turn, returned the favour by conducting a victory lap. Importantly, all this happened when there were cross-border tensions between the two countries.

4) Virat Kohli Gifts His Bat to Mohammed Amir

In recent India-Pakistan games, the Kohli-Amir rivalry has been one of the most fascinating contests. Before the World T20 2016 game between the two games, Kohli gifted a bat of his to Amir. Later in the game, Kohli played a matchwinning innings to help India win a close contest.

I had asked him for a bat during the Asia Cup and Virat said he would give me one in India,” said Amir later. “I am glad he remembered that,” he added.

5) Indian Cricketers Pose With Azhar Ali’s Son

Indian cricketers Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli posed for pictures with Azhar Ali’s son after the 2017 Champions Trophy final. Pakistan batsman Azhar Ali expressed his gratitude for the gesture shown by the Indian cricketers.

He thanked the trio via a tweet for agreeing on giving his son a moment of joy and a moment to remember.
