India regained the top spot in the Super 12 Group 2 table with a nail-biting win over Bangladesh in their latest T20 World Cup 2022 game on Wednesday (November 2). With Virat Kohli leading the scoring charts in the tournament with three unbeaten half-centuries from the four innings, it’s Arshdeep Singh, who is leading the wickets chart for Team India as well.

The 23-year-old left-arm pacer has tried to fill Jasprit Bumrah’s void in the squad with nine wickets from four innings which came at an economy rate of 8.25 so far. However, he picked up two big wickets of Shakib Al Hasan and Afif Hossain in the 12th over against Bangladesh to get India back in the game in the last content.

However, he has proved to be a little expensive in the tournament but his wicket-taking skill is top-notch so far. After the Bangladesh game, he was seen talking to the former Indian pacer Irfan Pathan, where he credited the veteran for playing a big part in his improvement as a bowler as well.

“I have always watched your bowling videos on YouTube and it has helped me a lot. My focus was always on consistency. You can’t afford to give too many loose balls at the International level. Opponent batters are of a high caliber and i always try to bowl a maximum of good deliveries, five or six out of six,” Arshdeep Singh said in a conversation with Irfan Pathan on Star Sports interview.

I want to pick wickets or control runs as per the need – Arshdeep Singh

“I want to be good while bowling with the new ball and with the old ball. I want to pick wickets or control runs as per the need. Paras Mhambrey has worked with me on my run-up. He has said if I come straight, I will get more consistency with my line. Entire team prepared well for the World Cup. We reached Perth around one week before and worked on out lengths as everyone has a different length and we had to figure it out by ourselves,” Arshdeep Singh further added.
