Former Australian batsman Mark Waugh has predicted that Team India will be whitewashed in the ongoing test series. They are already trailing the series 1-0 and Waugh believes India will lose the three test matches as well. Meanwhile, India will be without their skipper Virat Kohli for the last three tests. Ajinkya Rahane will step in as the stand-in skipper. Waugh’s words comes after India’s Adelaide debacle. They were bowled out for their lowest ever total in tests in the first test.

Speaking to Fox Sports, Mark Waugh spoke about his prediction of the ongoing test series. None of the Indian batsmen got to double figures as India went down to 36/9 in the second innings of the first test. He said winning the first test was their only hope with Virat Kohli still with the team.

“No hope, no hope. (On whether India can bounce back in the Test series). I thought Adelaide was the Test that they could win on paper and with Virat Kohli here for just the one Test. I thought the conditions would suit them.,” Waugh said while speaking on Fox Sports.

Team India Will be Whitewashed: Mark Waugh

Waugh further said he sees no ways of a comeback from the Indian team and hence he predicts a whitewash. Virat Kohli’s return and Mohammed Shami being ruled out comes across as body blows for Team India after losing the first test.

“I just can’t see how they can bounce back (after) Australia whitewashed them on the third day. So ‘no’ is the answer – four-nil to Australia.” the World Cup winner added.

Previously former Australian keeper Brad Haddin who is a part of the team management now predicted a four-nil whitewash as well when questioned on the result of the test series.

“If they are going to get back into the game, what I want to know is where they’re going to get their energy from. Virat Kohli is gone now and a lot of the energy comes off the back of what he does. He’s a world-class player, he’s their leader,” Haddin said on Fox Cricket.

The BCCI Chief Selector MSK Prasad has already hinted at a number of changes for Team India heading into the second test.
