Former LSG Bowler And Indian Cricketer Breaks Silence On Domestic Violence Case Confusion

Former Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bowler Amit Mishra has strongly criticized several media outlets for publishing incorrect reports during the ongoing IPL 2025 season. Currently serving as a commentator, Mishra reacted after multiple news portals falsely linked him to a domestic abuse and dowry harassment case.

According to these reports, Amit Mishra’s wife had allegedly filed a case accusing him and his family of demanding ₹10 lakh and a car as dowry, and was seeking ₹1 crore in compensation. Outlets like Aajtak and ABP Live claimed that a domestic violence complaint had been filed against the cricketer and his family.

Amit Mishra posted on X (formerly Twitter) to clear things up, saying the media used his photo by mistake in a news story about someone else with the same name. The real case was about another Amit Mishra, a cricketer from Kanpur who played for Rajasthan Royals in 2014.

Mishra clarified that while the news itself might be factual, it likely pertains to a different individual with the same name. He emphasized that the use of his image by media outlets creates a misleading narrative, prompting him to publicly call them out with the following post.

“I’m extremely disappointed by what’s being circulated in the media. I’ve always respected the press, but while the news itself may be accurate, the photograph used is mine—which is completely incorrect.”

“Using my image for unrelated stories must stop immediately, or I will be forced to take legal action. #MediaStop #ABPLive #AajTak #TimesOfIndia #Loksatta #Lokmat #Tv9Kannada #IBC24News #ZeeNews#Tv9News,” he tweeted.

Amit Mishra did not feature in the IPL 2025 auction

Veteran leg-spinner Amit Mishra has been a consistent presence in the IPL since its inaugural season in 2008. Over the years, he has turned out for several franchises including Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals), Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and more recently, Lucknow Super Giants.

In IPL 2024, he was part of the LSG squad but featured in just one match throughout the season. Following that, he was released by the franchise and, notably, did not appear in the final list of players for the 2025 mega auction.

At 42, with limited game time in the previous season, Mishra’s chances of being picked were slim. Nevertheless, he remains one of the most successful bowlers in IPL history, with 174 wickets in 162 matches at an average of 23.82 and an economy rate of 7.37.
