Gautam Gambhir asks BCCI to be “practical” than “emotional” in MS Dhoni”s inclusion

While the second innings of Gautam Gambhir as a politician has already started, the former Indian opener is still concerned about the hindrances for the Indian side for the future. In the latest interview, he was seen sharing his views about grooming the side ahead of World Tournaments going forward.

Gambhir said that the BCCI should be able to take a practical decision on MS Dhoni”s inclusion rather being emotional. It is to be noted that Dhoni was criticised for his lack of intent towards the end of the World Cup 2019. Few experts and analysts also said that ageing is so evident as he isn”t able to finish the games with the same intensity he used to.

6 Indian Players Eyeing A Comeback On The West Indies Tour

“It”s important to look into the future. And when Dhoni was the skipper, he invested in the future. I remember Dhoni saying in Australia that me, Sachin and Sehwag can”t play the CB series together as the grounds were big,” Gambhir said to a private news channel

Gambhir also said that the primary wicketkeeper for the next world tournament should be put as a priority. He called for the inclusion of Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson who always gave their best in the domestic tournaments. He also stressed the importance of giving multiple chances to the youngsters so that they will take some time to get used to the international formats.

8 Youngsters Who Can Be Tried On The West Indies Tour

“Give him chances for one and half-years and if he doesn”t perform, then others should be tried out as well. Then one would get to know who the keeper for the next World Cup is,” said Gambhir.

Gambhir isn”t pleased with the buzz that Dhoni is the greatest skipper India has ever seen. He said that though stats say the same, that doesn”t mean that Ganguly /Kohli isn”t good.

Here is Why MS Dhoni is Using Different Logos on his bat

“It is true that MS Dhoni has won us two World Cups (2007 and 2011) but it is not fair to give all credit to the captain for success and criticise only him when it doesn”t go your way. Dhoni has won the Champions Trophy and World Cups but other captains have also taken India forward. Captains like Anil Kumble have done the job though not for long; Rahul Dravid also led India to win in England,” Gambhir said.

According to latest reports, Dhoni has made himself unavailable for the Carribean tour. However further developments in this news will be clear once the squad is announced on Sunday.
