It was scheduled to commence from March 29; however, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had postponed the tournament for an indefinite period. Despite the ongoing situation, former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir believes it is important to host IPL for the country. The cricketer-turned-politician, despite agreeing that it is crucial to save human lives, but the cash-rich league will be helpful to change the mood of the country.

“As a politician, if you ask me then I would say it is very important for us to save the lives of the people. But if you want to change the mood of the country, not all IPLs are to win or lose, some are to change the mood of the country. So there could not be anything better than IPL for that,” Gambhir said in an interview with Sports Tak.
