As we look forward to the much-awaited Test series between India-England, former India international Gautam Gambhir has predicted the result of the series. Incidentally, this will be the first international series in India after the coronavirus pandemic broke out across the globe.

India will be high on confidence after their historic 2-1 win in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. They defied all the odds and injuries to beat a star-studded side with limited resources breaching their fortress at the Gabba.

India will beat England 3-0 or 3-1 – Gautam Gambhir

And now, Virat Kohli & Co will look to keep their winning run in the forthcoming series to retain their top spot in the ICC World Test Championship. Speaking on Star Sports show Game Plan, Gambhir said while the outcome of the series would be either 3-0 in India’s favour or 3-1 but he doesn’t think England have spinners in their arsenal who can utilise the conditions in India.

“It has to be 3-0 India or probably 3-1. I’m only going to give a Pink Ball Test match, probably 50-50 to England just from the conditions point of view. I don’t see England winning any of the Test matches with the kind of spin attack they’ve got,” Gautam Gambhir said.

On the other hand, England also come on the back of a clean sweep against Sri Lanka. However, Gautam Gambhir the series against India will be a different ball game altogether, and that facing the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin would be very difficult.

“This is going to be a completely different challenge for someone like Joe Root. Yes, he has played really well in Sri Lanka, but when you have to face people like Jasprit Bumrah on any wicket, or for that matter, Ravichandran Ashwin, when his confidence is sky-high after what he has done in Australia, I am sure it is going to be a completely different beast and a completely different ball game,” Gautam Gambhir added.
