The Indian Cricket Team registered a 6-wicket win in the 2nd Test match against Australia to retain the Border Gavaskar Trophy played at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi. Indian team proved their domination in the 2nd Test also.
After electing to bat first, Australia posted 263 runs with Mohammed Shami grabbing 4 wickets, and Ashwin and Jadeja 3 each. In reply, the Indian team looked in trouble before Axar and Ashwin added 114 runs for the 8th wicket to reduce the deficit to just 1 run.
Ravindra Jadeja created havoc on the 3rd day to pick up career-best figures of 7 for 42 and helped to bowl out Australia for 113. For his brilliant performance, Ravindra Jadeja was named the player of the match.
Virat Kohli looked impressive in the first innings playing according to the merit of the ball against Nathan Lyon, Todd Murphy, and Matt Kuhemann. He was showing intent and was given LBW in a controversial manner for 44. Chasing 115 runs to win, Kohli again looked impressive with his style of play against the spinner keeping the scoreboard ticking. He made 20 and was stumped by Alex Carey.
Sunil Gavaskar, Mark Waugh, Gautam Gambhir, and other commentators were impressed by Kohli’s knock in two innings he played during the 2nd Test. The legends said that King Kohli is just one inning away from a century drought in the longer format.
Virat Kohli achieved a huge milestone on the 3rd day by becoming the fastest 25000 international runs. He got this feat in 549 innings going past Sachin Tendulkar who achieved it in 577 innings. The list includes Ricky Pointing, Jacques Kallis, Kumar Sangakkara, and Mahela Jayawardene.
“Scoring 25 thousand runs is no joke. He has seen a lot of ups and downs but has remained consistent. Your game goes through a lot of changes. Your stance changes, your technique changes, your strengths, and weaknesses change, your mode of dismissals become different, and your emotions change and if you can factor in all of that, control all these things, and score these many runs then you are great,” Gautam Gambhir said on Star Sports.

Virat Kohli has been struggling for form off late in Test matches. He made his longer format debut for Team India against West Indies on June 20, 2011.
He has hit so far 8195 runs from 106 matches ( 180 innings) with an average of 48.49. During his Test career, Kohli has smashed 27 centuries and 28 half-centuries to his name, with the best score of 254 not out against South Africa in Pune.
Out of 27 Test centuries, 7 of them have been converted into double centuries. Kohli’s last Test century came against Bangladesh in a day-night Test match at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Kohli has 7 Test centuries against Australia, 5 centuries each against England and Sri Lanka, 3 against New Zealand, 3 against South Africa, 2 centuries against Bangladesh, and 2 centuries against West Indies.
