The Mumbai Indians have yet again qualified for the finals as they comprehensively beat Delhi Capitals at the Dubai International cricket stadium. Delhi Capitals had no clue what so ever to Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult’s opening spell as they sent packing the top three batsmen for a duck.

It all started at the toss as Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Dubai International cricket stadium. The Capitals went in with an unchanged playing XI whereas Mumbai Indians made as many as three to the side, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya came back into the side for Dhawal Kulkarni, Saurabh Tiwary and James Pattinson.

Delhi Capitals Collapse Early On In The Chase

To start off the Mumbai Indians side lost Rohit Sharma on the very first delivery as Ashwin dismissed him off LBW. In the follow-up, Surya Kumar Yadav and Quinton De Kock notched up a 62 partnership which put Mumbai Indians in command. After De Kock lost his wicket it was Surya and Ishan who stabilised the innings before Hardik Pandya came in with his late fireworks which took Mumbai Indians to a massive total of 200 at the end of 20 overs.

In the Chase, Delhi Capitals had the worst start to the innings as their top three walked back to the pavilion without scoring a run. Similarly, the MI bowlers especially Jasprit Bumrah ran through all the DC batsman as they were merely restricted to 143 at the end of 20 overs. With this win, MI qualified for the finals whereas DC will now play the winner of RCB v SRH on Sunday in the 2nd qualifier.

Jasprit Bumrah returns with 4 for 14

The man of the match of today’s match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals was Jasprit Bumrah for his phenomenal spell of 4 overs where he picked up 4 wickets. At the post-match presentation, Bumrah said he has been given a specific role by the Mumbai Indians team management which is to pick wickets. He further added how he is always ready to bowl whenever the captain wants him to bowl.

“I am okay with not getting wickets and winning the tournament, I have been given a role so I just want to execute that role. Opening yorker was really important. I decided I will do that early in the game and when it comes off it’s always nice,” Bumrah said.

“I am always ready when the captain wants me to bowl. I don’t focus on the end result. When I have done that it’s always gone downhill,” he added.
