Global T20 Canada: Chris Gayle”s century stands out in the rain affected game

Chris Gayle once again proved that age is just a number for him in the Global T20 league, Canada. A swashbuckling knock of 122 off just 54 deliveries came off his bat in the game against Montreal Tigers. Gayle, in turn, had no mercy towards the bowlers as he smashed each of them to the nook and corner.

His knock included 7 boundaries and 12 huge sixes. He even took his countrymen Sunil Narine to cleaners on his way to the century. This knock could also be seen as a perfect captain”s knock in the shortest format of the game.

This unbeaten knock helped the side post a huge total of 276/3 on the board. However, incessant rain played its part in the game as the match didn”t continue further. Both the teams shared a point each but it was all the Universe Boss who yet again proved his brutality.

Speaking after the game, Gayle said that he was looking for a 200 but that didn”t happen in this game. Gayle is also the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 179 runs in just 3 innings at an average of 89.50

Participation in India series

Chris Gayle is now a part of the ODI series against India which will commence in a week”s time. The 39-year-old expressed his desire to play a series at home ahead of his retirement and the board considered it to the fullest. There are also speculations that he will play one test match as a part of the ICC test championship.

The Global T20 league is turning out to be a very competitive battle as the top five spots are constantly changing. Edmonton Royals couldn”t register a single victory till now and are seated at the last. They will be facing Montreal Tigers tomorrow in Ontario.
