Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav delivered a confident response to Pakistan’s boycott threat ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026. The much-awaited clash is scheduled for February 15 in Colombo, but Pakistan’s government has reportedly refused permission for their team to face India.

At a pre-tournament press conference, when asked about the situation, Yadav affirmed that Team India will travel to Colombo and are fully prepared for the match.

“Mindset is pretty clear. We haven’t said no to the game. The ICC has decided on a neutral venue. We are going to Colombo for sure. We don’t know about others. We will play the match on 7th and go to Colombo then,” he was quoted as saying by RevSportz.

“There decision is not in my control. We played them 3 times in Asia Cup, we won and were happy. If we get the opportunity to play in Colombo, we will play them. It’s not my call. If the decision is coming from the government then I can’t do anything on it. The fixtures are ready and we will go to Colombo,” he added.

India and Pakistan have met eight times in T20 World Cup history, with the Men in Blue dominating the rivalry, winning seven of those encounters while Pakistan has won once.

Suryakumar Yadav Provides Insight On Star All-Rounder

In the same press conference, Suryakumar Yadav gave an update on star all-rounder Washington Sundar. He stated that despite Sundar’s injury and ongoing fitness concerns, the team is ready to wait patiently for him to regain full fitness.

“Tilak Varma got a break, didn’t play NZ series, he looked a different player when he came back. We spoke to Washington Sundar, he is almost there. We are willing to be patient with him,” he was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.
