GT Star Makes Shocking Admission After Match-Winning Show Against RCB In IPL 2025

England and Gujarat Titans (GT) wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler admitted feeling embarrassed after dropping a simple catch off Phil Salt during the IPL 2025 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 2. Determined to make amends, he focused on scoring runs.

The drop happened in the first over when Salt edged a length ball from Mohammed Siraj while charging down the track. However, Buttler couldn’t hold on to the chance. Fortunately for GT, Phil Salt was dismissed for 14 soon after, causing minimal damage. You can watch the video here:

In a post-match interview with the host broadcaster, Jos Buttler admitted that he barely got his glove on the ball after the edge and acknowledged that his dropped catch might have cost the Titans extra runs in the chase. He said:

“I thought the bowlers did a fantastic job. We probably, if we fielded it a bit better, myself, looking at myself very much so, then we would have been chasing a few less. I was pretty embarrassed, especially with [dropping] Salty. He’s a dangerous player.”

“So the only thing I can think of, I was trying to throw it up to earlier, a bit like Herschelle Gibbs style [who dropped Steve Waugh in that fashion during the 1999 World Cup] but I didn’t even… I barely got a glove on it, it hit me in the chest. But due to that embarrassment, I was pretty determined to try and score some runs.”

Mohammed Siraj dismantled RCB before Jos Buttler’s batting masterclass

After Titans captain Shubman Gill chose to bowl first, Siraj, Arshad Khan, and Ishant Sharma tore through RCB’s top order, reducing them to 42/4 by the seventh over. Though Jitesh Sharma (33), Liam Livingstone (54), and Tim David (32) fought hard to push the total to 169, it was always going to be insufficient.

Siraj claimed the Player of the Match award for his outstanding spell of 4-0-19-3, dismissing Livingstone, Salt, and Devdutt Padikkal.
