The test cricket will be on the line in November when the much-awaited Ashes series between England and Australia takes place. Nevertheless, before the historic five-Test series, India will welcome the world Test champions, South Africa, for a two-match series. Temba Bavuma will be leading the Proteas, who are up against the newly formed Indian team under Shubman Gill, to a tough battle.

It was in 2000 that South Africa last won a Test series in India. The Bavuma team will be striving hard to end this drought but they will have to go through the spin-wicket-friendly pitches of India. Bavuma has full faith in his team that they will not be caught by surprise, and he is also aware that very often the home team takes advantage of the situation.

The series is a part of the ICC World Test Championship, and the fixtures are for November 14-18 and November 22-26 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, respectively.

“I’m sure India will continue to dominate”- Temba Bavuma

South Africa has planned the trip to India for the all-format tour next month in which the hosts will meet the Proteas in 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is. In the longer format, the Indian team will not have the support of greats like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and R. Ashwin, who have already taken retirement from Tests. Nevertheless, Bavuma thinks that under the leadership of Shubman Gill, who is the new captain, Indian cricket can still make progress.

“It seems as if the new era has kicked in, if I could say. (The) guys like Rohit, (and) before him, Kohli, they’ve done their job. They put India really on their mat and they’ve made India a team to really be feared. I’m sure India will continue to dominate. Our job as South Africa is to not allow them to dominate as much…,” he said on the sidelines of the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards.

“(There is) new leadership for India. Myself, first time (I’ll be) captaining in Test cricket in India. There’s a lot of little sub-stories about it. It can really make the game a lot more beautiful,” he added.
