Veteran Chennai Super Kings cricketer Harbhajan Singh has been hogging the headlines in recent times. Recently, he pulled out of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League owing to personal reasons. And now, Harbhajan has lodged a police complaint after a Chennai businessman duped him of Rs 4 crore.

According to the cricketer, he had met this person back through a common friend. Harbhajan then loaned the amount to the businessman, named G Mahesh, in 2015. Over the years, Harbhajan is said to have approached Mahesh several times but the latter kept delaying the payment.

Meanwhile, last month, Mahesh had issued a cheque of Rs 25 lakhs in favour of Harbhajan Singh. However, it bounced when presented in the bank which prompted the World Cup-winner to file a police complaint. Harbhajan recently went to Chennai and lodged an official complaint.

As per the report in the paper, the petition has been forwarded to Neelankarai assistant commissioner of police Visveshvaraiah to probe the matter.  The ACP has already summoned the businessman for inquiry. On the other hand, a report in TOI states that the person has moved to Madras High Court for anticipatory bail. However, the ACP has put the request on hold.

G Mahes; however, in his affidavit, has claimed that he took the loan from Harbhajan Singh after issuing an immovable property at Thalambur as security. As per him, he has already cleared his dues to the Indian off-spinner.

Along with this, Harbhajan Singh will lose Rs 2 crore for pulling out of IPL 2020. He took to Twitter to urge the fans not to speculate about reasons and called for their support. He also wished Chennai Super Kings luck ahead of IPL 2020 in the UAE.

“Dear Friends, I will not be playing IPL this year due to personal reasons. These are difficult times and I would expect some privacy as I spend time with my family. @ChennaiIPL CSK management has been extremely supportive and I wish them a great IPL Stay safe and Jai Hind,” Harbhajan tweeted.
