Veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh continues to be a force to reckon with in the IPL despite not being in Indian Team. The rise of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja sidelined Harbhajan from the national team. Recently, Harbhajan Singh opened up on his retirement speculation.
The off-spinner spent 10 seasons with four-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians (2008-2017) before joining Chennai Super Kings in 2018. He, in fact, led Mumbai Indians to a Champions League title in 2011.
The cricketer from Punjab is the third-highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL with 150 wickets from 160 games. Harbhajan Singh said his body whether this IPL will be his last in the cash-rich league. The first bowler for India to take a Test hat-trick will hope to continue his sublime run when the IPL 2020 commences from September 26 in UAE.
“I can’t say whether this will be my last IPL. It depends on my body. After four months of workout, rest, yoga sessions, I feel reinvigorated just like 2013, when I had 24 wickets in that IPL edition,” Harbhajan told PTI.
Harbhajan Singh has been a consistent performer in the IPL over the years. Many cricketers believe that game time is very important to be in shape, unlike the off-spinner. Harbhajan believes if he spends some time in the nets he can be on the top of his game.
“To each his own. If someone feels he wants game time, good for him. If I bowl 2000 balls at the nets for a month, the amount of top-level cricket I have played, it’s good enough,” Harbhajan said.
