Harmanpreet Kaur Named ODI Skipper As BCCI Announces Squads For The Upcoming Limited Overs Tour To Sri Lanka

Indian cricketer Harmanpreet Kaur has been appointed as captain of the India women’s ODI team for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour. The team will play three ODIs starting from June 23 in Dambulla, followed by as many T20Is in Kandy.

The All India selection committee met on Wednesday to pick the squads for the ODI and the T20I series in Sri Lanka. Earlier in the day, Mithali Raj announced her retirement from International Cricket. Following her decision, Harmanpreet was promoted to the skipper of the ODI team.

The All-India Women’s Selection Committee met on Wednesday to pick the squads for India’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. India will play three T20Is beginning June 23rd and as many ODIs in Dambulla and Kandy respectively,” wrote the BCCI on Twitter while announcing the squads.

Meanwhile, the left-hander will continue to lead India in the T20 format. Smriti Mandhana was appointed the vice-captain of the limited-overs squad. The Indian selectors included Jemimah Rodrigues in the T20I squad. However, she remained to be out of the ODIs.

Sneh Rana misses out from the ODI and T20I squad

Notably, veteran cricketer, Jhulan Goswami was not included in the ODI squad. Another absentee from the squads is Sneh Rana, who did not find a place in both the teams. The BCCI press release did not provide any additional information on the absence of the duo.
