The captain of the women’s team of India, Harmanpreet Kaur, stepped into the shoes of MS Dhoni by taking a picture with the Women’s World Cup trophy 2025 at the Gateway of India. Harmanpreet and her team made an unforgettable mark on the day, Sunday, November 2, when they overcame South Africa by 52 runs at the ICC Women’s World Cup to clinch their first-ever World Cup title.

By winning the title, Harmanpreet became the 4th Indian cricket captain, along with Dhoni, Kapil Dev, and Rohit Sharma, to have the honor of winning the World Cup in all formats of international cricket.

Harmanpreet Kaur recreated Dhoni’s iconic pose

On Monday, November 3, India women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur imitated MS Dhoni’s famous World Cup trophy pose at the Gateway of India. Harmanpreet led the way to the Women’s World Cup victory in India on Sunday.

This was the first Women’s World Cup win for the Indian team, which ended a long wait of twenty years and helped them to gradually process the pain of losing in the finals of 2005 and 2017. After the victory, Harmanpreet posed with the trophy at the landmark.

“This is the start. We wanted to break this barrier. And our next plan is to make this a habit. We were waiting for it. Now this moment has come. So many big occasions are coming, and we want to keep improving. This is not the end, just the beginning,” Harmanpreet Kaur said.

The ICC shared the pictures on their social media platforms on Monday. Dhoni, after leading the men’s team to the 2011 World Cup victory, also made a post at the Gateway of India with the trophy.
