Harsha Bhogle Shuts Down A Fan Who Called Mithali Raj’s Batting Useless

The Indian women’s cricket team lost the first ODI match against England women’s by 8 wickets, Although captain Mithali Raj played a brilliant knock of 72 runs which helped India reach 201 runs. This was the first match of the India vs England three-match ODI series.

Captain Mithali Raj even after scoring his 56th ODI half-century, was criticized for her strike rate in the match. However, she smashed few boundaries at the death but later she got out in the 46th over. Other than Mithali Raj no other batter from the Indian team was able to play an impactful knock. So with the batting failure on a good batting surface, India was able to score only 201 runs.

Meanwhile, skipper Mithali was criticized by some fans on the other side she had many supporters too. One of them was Harsha Bhogle as he took his Twitter to praise Mithali Raj for her brilliant effort on the field.

Harsha Bhogle stated that despite being a senior-most international player she is scoring runs for India. He wrote:

“She is still holding the batting together. The seniormost international cricketer playing today is still getting runs. What a player! @M_Raj03″

Harsha Bhogle engage in war of words with a Twitter user

The tweet by Harsha Bhogle instantly went viral on social media and received mixed reactions from fans. The supporters of Mithali agreed with Harsha and on the other hand, many criticized Bhogle for his tweet.

One of the fans claimed in a comment that it was her inning would only look good in stats and it was more or less a useless inning for the team’. He wrote in comments :

“It’s more or less a useless inning for the team. May look good in her stats. Just like how most Indian men used to play in the 90s(except Sachin and Jadeja)”

The tweet by a fan soon caught the notoriety of veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle. Soon he came up with a strong reply to the fan who called Mithali’s innings useless. Harsha in a sarcastic way wrote that India would have given a much stiffer target to England at a prettier strike rate. His tweet stated :

“Absolutely. Scoring 150 all out in 30 overs, at a prettier strike rate, would have represented a much stiffer target for England than the 201 India got.”
