KL Rahul had an amazing outing with the bat in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL). He scored 616 runs in 15 matches with an average of 51.33 and a strike rate of 135.38. The 30-year-old batsman ended up as the second-highest run scorer in IPL 2022.

Rahul also impressed several people with his captaincy style in IPL 2022. He displayed some great maturity while leading Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Rahul led from the front while captaining the side. Lucknow finished third in the league phase before going down against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator.

Recently KL Rahul has received a lot of criticism over his strike rate and intent while batting in T20 cricket. His slow-paced innings against RCB in the eliminator received a lot of flaks. However, RP Singh backed the style and approach of KL Rahul. RP Singh said that Rahul knows when it’s the time to accelerate.

In a show on Cricbuzz, RP Singh said, “KL Rahul is technically very sound. He has game-awareness as he picks the bowlers against whom he can take chances on a given day. If he gets out for a run-a-ball 25, we’d say that he played like Manish Pandey does. But he ticks all the boxes because he protects his wicket and knows when to accelerate.”

“Knows how to pace his innings” – Parthiv Patel backs the batting approach of KL Rahul

KL Rahul will lead the Indian T20I team in the five-match T20I series against South Africa, starting on 09 June. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been given the rest for this T20I series. Parthiv Patel called Rahul the only player who can score a century in 20 overs despite starting slow.

Parthiv Patel on Cricbuzz show said, “KL Rahul is the only player who can score a century in 20 overs despite starting slowly. If you are able to score 100 runs off 60 balls, it means that you’ve read the game well and know how to pace your innings.”
