Former Australian cricketer Shane Watson showered praise on Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya. The Indian all-rounder is in Australia for the 2022 T20 World Cup. Watson termed Hardik Pandya as a “match-winner”, who has the ability to win the T20 World Cup title for his team on his own.

Team India won the inaugural T20 World Cup under MS Dhoni’s leadership in 2007. However, since then, they have not been able to get their hands on the coveted trophy. The Rohit Sharma-led team will kick off their 2022 T20 World Cup campaign on Sunday, October 23 against Pakistan in Melbourne.

In an interview with the Times of India (TOI), former Australia cricketer Shane Watson spoke about India’s chances at the T20 World Cup. He also lauded all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who has been in good form for Team India. Shane Watson said to TOI,

“Hardik Pandya is a talented cricketer. When he’s bowling, the way he is paced up at 140s is amazing. He’s just got great skill and he’s got a great ability to take wickets and also defend runs. His batting just continues to go through the roof. He’s not just a finisher, he’s a power hitter too. He’s got all the skills. We’ve seen him in the last IPL. He can win the T20 World Cup on his own. He is truly a match-winner.”

Virat Kohli is going to play a key role for India: Shane Watson

Veteran India cricketer Virat Kohli went through a long batting form slump in his career. However, he made a strong comeback from the phase recently and will be keen to make an impact for Team India at the 2022 T20 World Cup. Former Australia cricketer Shane Watson expressed Kohli will play a key role for the team in the upcoming event. He said to the TOI,

“Virat is batting very nicely right now. The way he played against Australia alone, a couple of those innings, and the way he batted, he was at his best. Some of those shots that he played were amazing. Virat is batting at his absolute best. He definitely needed a break just to be able to re-energize his batteries. And you can see the way he has made a comeback into the Indian team. The way he’s batting, he’s going to play a key role for India in the T20 World Cup.”
