India’s poor run in the knockout stages of ICC tournaments has extended even to this edition of the T20 World Cup. They take the flight back after losing to England by 10 wickets at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday, November 10.

Apart from Virat Kohli, another player who shined and stamped his authority in this tournament was Suryakumar Yadav. He scored 239 runs in 6 innings at a strike rate of 189.68. This includes three half-centuries.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t get going for the team in the semi-final encounter versus England. He scored only 14 runs in 10 balls until Adil Rashid sent him back to the pavilion. Sanjay Bangar, after the match on Star Sports, analysed SKY’s first outing in Australia. He said:

“Suryakumar Yadav is a player who will revolutionize Indian T20 cricket. You will have to find more multi-dimensional players like him, just like the England team, which is filled with all-rounders till No. 9 or No. 10.”

“Players who can target both sides of the wickets with their shots can play the switch hit, reverse sweep and find unconventional pockets, I feel such players will get more encouragement. The number of options he has, he plays all types of shots. He is an inspiration, and you will get to see more players who play like that going ahead,” he added.

Sanjay Bangar also says how Suryakumar Yadav has a range of shots in his books, which is why he is popularly known as India’s AB de Villiers

“He has become a totally all-round batter. There was a time when Suryakumar Yadav was known for playing only shots over fine leg. Now his range has increased, his stature has increased,” Bangar continued.

“He has left his impact” – Sanjay Bangar on Suryakumar Yadav’s first Australia tour

Suryakumar Yadav also stood up for the team during pressure, especially when the team’s back was against the walls against South Africa in Perth, scoring a value 68 of 40 balls. Sanjay Bangar reckoned that the Mumbai Indians batter has managed to leave an impression on his first tour of Australia.

“The special thing is that in pressure situations, whether it is Australian or English conditions, which are considered the most difficult for batting, he has gone there, and on his first tour itself, he has left his impact,” Sanjay Bangar concluded.

India will be looking for more impact and dynamic players like him in the team, so they frequently take the attack to the opposition and create continuous pressure on them.
