Former India Player Ravi Shastri praised Mitchell Starc’s ability to step up under pressure, calling his performance in the IPL 2024 knockout matches a ‘huge slap’ to detractors who questioned his price tag at the start of the season. Starc’s outstanding performances under pressure received acclaim for his ability to raise his game when it counted the most.

Shastri’s recognition emphasizes Starc’s critical involvement in his team’s triumph during the tournament’s pivotal phases. Abhishek Sharma was clean bowled by Mitchell Starc in the opening over of Sunday’s IPL 2024 final between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Starc has been in the headlines the entire season after KKR paid an incredible amount of Rs 24.75 crore to get him, making him the most expensive player in IPL history. But after a lacklustre beginning, he skillfully recovered to deliver a bomb that sent Abhishek Sharma reeling.

Ravi Shastri, the former head coach of India, praised Mitchell Starc‘s ability to perform well under duress and said that his success in the IPL 2024 knockout rounds is a “big slap” to those who doubted his value at the beginning of the season.
