Mumbai Indians (MI) had a horrible 2022 season in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL). They finished last on the points table with just four wins in 14 matches. Mumbai tried several combinations but Arjun Tendulkar failed to find a place in any of them.
Junior Tendulkar is a 22-year-old left-arm pacer and a left-handed batsman too. Despite being immensely talented, he couldn’t find a place in the Mumbai team for two consecutive seasons.
Recently, MI bowling coach Shane Bond revealed why Arjun Tendulkar couldn’t find a place in the playing XI. The former Kiwi pacer believes that Arjun needs to work more on his batting and fielding to break into the playing XI.
In an interview with Sportskeeda, Shane Bond said, ” He’s still got a lot of development to do. There is a great deal of work to be done. And he’s still got some work to do on his batting and fielding in particular, and hopefully he can make those progressions and earn his spot in the team.”
“He needs to earn his spot” – Shane Bond on Arjun Tendulkar
Shane Bond also said that to feature in the playing XI of Mumbai Indians is not an easy task to achieve. He believes that there is a fine line between giving everyone a game and earning your spot. Bond believes that Arjun Tendulkar will have to earn his spot by working harder on his game.
“When you are playing for a team like Mumbai, it’s like one thing to make the squad, but to make the playing eleven is another. It is one thing to try everyone out to play, but in the end, when you play at this level, there’s that fine line between giving everyone a game but also you have to earn your spot,” Bond concluded.
