Hemang Badani, a former cricket star from India, is feeling worried about the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024. His concern comes from the poor performance of the Mumbai Indians team in the IPL 2024 tournament. The Mumbai Indians team includes Rohit Sharma, who is the captain of the Indian cricket team, and Hardik Pandya, who is the vice-captain.
Unfortunately, the Mumbai Indians didn’t do well and were the first team to be out of the playoffs. After losing against the Kolkata Knight Riders, they only managed to win 4 out of 13 matches in the tournament. Badani shared his concerns on social media, saying it’s troubling that both Rohit and Hardik won’t be part of the IPL playoffs right before the T20 World Cup.
“Indian captain and vice captain out of the IPL. What does that speak of our quality depth and our chances. Trolls stay away.. If you have something objective to add then pls do. I for one am very worried about team India!” Badani wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Hemang Badani expressed concerns about the absence of the Indian cricket team’s captain and vice-captain from the IPL.
Assessment of India’s Talent Pool and T20 World Cup Prospects
Questions were raised about the depth of talent and our team’s prospects for the T20 World Cup. He urged trolls to refrain from negative comments and encouraged constructive discussion. Badani admitted his worry about Team India’s situation. Regarding the match, KKR defeated MI in a game affected by rain. Venkatesh Iyer shone with the bat, while Varun Chakaravarthy, Andre Russell, and Harshit Rana put pressure on MI’s batters.
MI captain Hardik Pandya addressed his team’s disappointing performance in IPL 2024. “Tough one, yeah. As a batting unit, the foundation was there but we could not capitalize after that and keep the momentum up. The wicket was a little up and down and a little tacky so momentum was very important. I think it was a par score, given the conditions, felt that the bowlers did well.”
“Every ball that came back from the boundary came back wet. The bowlers made sure they kept taking wickets. (On his thoughts for the next game) Nothing, just to go and enjoy as much as we can and play good cricket, that’s been my motto from the start. I don’t think we’ve played enough good cricket this season,” he said.
