At 29, Virat Kohli is an all-time legend, well definitely in ODI and T20I cricket. They say the best years of a batsman are between 28 and 32. If that”s the fact then we could see the best of Virat Kohli in next few years.
But honestly speaking, is there any room for him to get better than what he is today? Unlike other batsmen, it is not something like a purple patch in his career which comes and goes. It looks like something he will never get out of!! Just imagine what will he achieve in 5 years’ time if he continues with this consistency?
Here we are with some of the records he is likely to break after 5 years:

5) Crossing 10k test runs mark
Currently, he has played 63 tests, scoring 5218 runs at an average of 53.78. In next 5 years, he is estimated to play 50 more tests for India. At his current average of 53.78 his aggregate comes to 5915 in 110 potential innings (DNBs not considered).
The average number of innings he takes to score a hundred is 5.47 so he is expected to end up with 20 more at this rate. Thus he will end up with 11113 runs with 40 hundred. Gavaskar, Tendulkar, and Dravid are the only Indian batsmen so far to cross 10000-run mark in test cricket.
4) Second-leading run scorer in ODIS
India plays 26 ODIS in a year on an average. In next 5 years, India is expected to play 130 more. Assuming he will miss 15% of the games due to rest or other reasons, he is estimated to play 110 of those.
At his current average of 55.74, he is expected to score 6131 more runs. Currently, Virat has 9030 runs from 202 ODIS. Hence after 5 years, he is likely to end up on 15161 runs which will be second leading run scorer going past Sangakkara’s 14234 and only behind Sachin’s 18426.
3) First player to score 50 ODI hundreds
Currently, Virat has 32 tons to his name from 194 innings. Talking about hundreds, his innings per hundred ratios is 6.06 which means at this rate he could score 18 more ODI tons in next 110 ODIS which he is expected to play in next 5 years. That already past Tendulkar’s 49 thus becoming the first man in history to score 50 One Day International tons.
2) Most test win as Indian captain
Right now, Virat has won 20 matches for India as test skipper. The highest is MS Dhoni with 27 wins. Virat will easily go past MS Dhoni in next few years. However, it is difficult to predict how many wins he will end up with because of many factors like FTPs, home and away matches, personal form of cricketers.
1) 4000 T20I runs
India plays 9 T20Is a year which makes 45 in next 5 years. Again the ratio of Matches played: Matches Missed is assumed as 85:15, which means Virat will play 38 matches. Currently, Virat has played 55 T20IS scoring 1956 at an average of 52.86. At this average, he is expected to score 2021 more runs. That means he will score around 4000 T20I runs.
