Here we look at the biggest flops of VIVO IPL 2019:-
1. Ben Stokes
After a disappointing 2018 season for Rajasthan Royals, the hard-hitting all-rounder from England Ben Stokes was one of the players to be retained by the franchise. In this year’s IPL, Stokes played a total of 9 matches and just scored 123 runs with the best score of 46 against Chennai Super Kings. He could not score any 50 plus totals for Rajasthan Royals.

He also disappointed with the ball also taking just 6 wickets from 9 matches with an economy of 11.22 runs per over. Before the league stage, Stokes left for England. His performances with both bat and ball let down Rajasthan Royals franchise as they finished a disappointing 7th in the points table with 11 points.
2. Ambati Rayudu
After a successful 2018 season for Chennai Super Kings, Ambati Rayudu had a disappointing 2019 season so far. He has scored so far 219 runs from 14 matches with the best score of 57.
In this year’s IPL for CSK, Rayudu opened the innings or came in the middle order. Due to inconsistent performances, the veteran was dropped from the 15-man squad for World Cup. With the qualifier 1 to be played at Chennai on 7th May, Rayudu would be hungry for runs.
3. Jaydev Unadkat
Jaydev Unadkat was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 8.40 Crore in this year’s IPL. He could not perform according to price money as he took 10 wickets from 11 matches at an expensive economy rate of 10.66 runs per over. In this years IPL his best figures were 2/26 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He was named as the man of the match for the same.
He went for runs in the middle overs and could not control run flow. Even in the last IPL, the left arm pace bowler could not perform according to expectations taking 11 wickets from 15 matches with an economy rate of 9.65 runs per over.
Jaydev played a key role in helping Saurashtra reaching the finals of 2018/19 Ranji Trophy season. He took 39 wickets from 8 matches (14 innings) with best figures of 7/86. It looks unlikely that he would be bought by any franchise in next years IPL.
4. Ashton Turner
The right-handed explosive batsman from Australia, Ashton Turner played a blinder of an innings against India in the 4th One day international at Mohali on 10th March 2019. He scored 84 off 43 balls and helped Australia chase down a massive target of 359.
Due to stunning performance in that match, Rajasthan Royals bought Ashton Turner for RS 50 Lakhs. He bagged 3 golden ducks in his first 3 matches against Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. Against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Turner remained not out on 3.
5. Robin Uthappa
After successful seasons for Kolkata Knight Riders, Robin Uthappa had a disappointing season for KKR in this year IPL. During the 2019 auction, the experienced Uthappa was bought by using the right to match card for RS 6.40 Crore. He could not live up to the expectations as he scored a total of 282 runs from 12 matches with a strike rate of 115.10. Due to poor performances, Uthappa was dropped for 2 matches.
In the do or die match against Mumbai Indians, Robin Uthappa struggled and scored 40 off 48 balls which led Kolkata Knight Riders to a modest total of 133 for 7. His best score in IPL 2019 was 67*.
He was one of the reasons due to which Kolkata Knight Riders were knocked in the league stage. In the middle phase, KKR lost six matches in succession.
6. Umesh Yadav
After a successful season in 2018 for RCB, Umesh Yadav was retained by the franchise for this year’s IPL. The bowler had a disappointing season for the Virat Kohli led side. The experienced Indian bowler took a total of 8 wickets from 11 matches with an economy of 9.80 runs per over.
He conceded many runs in the death overs and could not provide early breakthroughs for RCB. His best figures in IPL was 3/36. Despite not getting selected for the Indian ODI team, Yadav was erratic with his bowling and gave away too many runs.
