Here is what Ajinkya Rahane has to say post his man of the series performance

The Man of the Series award winner, Ajinkya Rahane said that he is ready to bat at any position for team India in One-day internationals. He was given a chance to bat at the opening slot in place of Rohit Sharma who was rested for this series.

It was a great display of batting by Ajinkya Rahane who scored 336 runs in 5 matches during the recently concluded ODI series against West Indies that India won 3-1. This was one of the positives for team India going ahead into ODI series against Sri Lanka in August.

In the recently concluded Champions Trophy 2017 held at England, Rahane was not given a chance as Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma opened the bat for India.

“See, what is going to happen in the future we don’t know. This series will give me a lot of confidence especially for the ODI and shorter format. If the team management thinks I should bat at No.4 or at No.1 and 2 then I will always be giving my 100 percent on that. I am not sure what is going to happen in the future, but I always like to give my best in ODI and T20 formats. I am looking forward to doing well consistently in ODI format,” said Ajinkya Rahane while speaking to the media ahead of the one-off T20I game.

“This series was really important for me as I got a chance after some time. I didn’t play the ICC Champions Trophy. We came here. Virat told me you are going to play all the games. So actually I was looking forward to that. I didn’t want to put pressure on myself. I just wanted to enjoy myself in the middle. I took my time. When we came here, we had a couple of practice sessions and even in England, I was batting well (in the nets). So I just had to make it count as I mentioned but importantly I wanted to express myself with the bat,” the stylish right-hander said.

Ajinkya Rahane is an important member of the Indian test team who is currently ranked 1. Their next test series will be a 3 match series against Sri Lanka starting on 26th July which will be followed by 5 ODI and 1 T20 finishing on 6th Sept. Ajinkya has helped team India play good knocks for India in overseas conditions including centuries against England, Australia, and West Indies, Sri Lanka in their own conditions. India will play West Indies in one-off T20 after half an hour.

With the World Cup 2019 held in England, Rahane might be playing a big role and should different combinations to decide the suitable batting line up.
