Indian skipper Virat Kohli was unable to replicate the performance of England captain Joe Root on Day 4 of the second Test match against England at Lord’s. Notably former Indian wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta has shared his thoughts on Virat Kohli’s dismissal in India’s second innings.
Captain Virat Kohli was dismissed in the 23rd over of the match against all-rounder Sam Curran. Notably, Sam Curran bowled a delivery wide outside off-stump and the ball edged Kohli’s bat and went towards Jos Buttler’s safe hands. England was able to get a major breakthrough of Indian captain ahead of the Lunch. Kohli showed a poor outing with the bat as he was only able to contribute 20 runs

While talking to BBC’s Test match special, Deep Dasgupta opined Virat Kohli would be disappointed with himself. Deep Dasgupta further pointed out Kohli’s front foot didn’t reach the line. The 44-year-old elaborated:
“Virat Kohli won’t be happy with himself. That was really outside off stump, almost a fifth stump. His front foot did not reach the line of the ball and he’s feathered it. A huge wicket for Sam Curran for England. That is massive in the context of this Test,”
Meanwhile, Kohli isn’t reaching the expectations in the England series. As in the first match at Trent Bridge Nottingham Kohli got out on duck. Meanwhile in the second match at Lord’s, in the first innings, Kohli looked good but was dismissed on 42.
“It’s outside, does Kohli have to play?” – David Lloyd
The cricketer-turned-commentator David Lloyd also bashed Virat Kohli for his shot selection. While talking about the Indian captain’s wicket on Sky Sports, Lloyd said:
“It’s significant. Almost a lap of honour [from Curran]. It’s outside, does Kohli have to play? No he doesn’t. He feels for it. Sam Curran was probing around the wicket but over the wicket has done the trick. He’s off on one!”
Sam Curran make things happen as he gets Kohli for 20 and India 55 for 3 in the first innings. #ENGvIND
