Team India vice-captain Rohit Sharma has showered praise on captain Virat Kohli ahead of the Afghanistan tie in Abu Dhabi, saying that his hunger for success is just unbelievable. Kohli will be desperate to steer India’s fate after two back-to-back defeats in his last T20I assignment as captain.
The talismanic run-scorer has been one of the best in the business for the past six-seven years now. While his recent performances have been under the lens, there is no doubting Virat Kohli’s calibre.
In a video released by t20worldcup on their official Instagram handle, Rohit Sharma lauded Virat Kohli for being consistent for the last decade. He said:
“His hunger for success is just unbelievable. It’s not so easy to go out there and do it consistently which he has done, so well.”
He has put his best foot forward – Rohit Sharma on Virat Kohli
Ever since Virat Kohli put his foot on the Indian team in the backdrop of winning the ICC U-19 World Cup, the 32-year-old has gone from strength to strength. Rohit Sharma stressed that Virat has completely evolved as a cricketer over the years and he has gotten better with time.
“When he came in 2008 and he has evolved as a cricketer since then, I mean over the years he has added a little-little cent to his game and he has just evolved every year. All those years as I see, you know, he has put his best foot forward,” Rohit Sharma added.
So far, Virat Kohli has played 96 Tests, 254 ODIs and 92 T20 Internationals for India and has scored 7765, 12169 and 3225 runs respectively. He also has 70 international centuries under his belt.
India will want Kohli to fire against Afghanistan as they look to bounce back in the T20 World Cup after two defeats on the trot.
