“How Does Lord Hanuman Help You?” – Deepti Sharma Replies PM Modi’s Question

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the victorious Indian women’s cricket team in Delhi after their unforgettable 2025 World Cup win. During the interaction, he shared a light moment with all-rounder Deepti Sharma, asking her about the Lord Hanuman tattoo on her left arm and how it influences her life.

Deepti replied that her faith in Lord Hanuman is stronger than her belief in herself. She explained that whenever she faces tough situations, she remembers him, which gives her the strength to overcome challenges. Deepti played a crucial role throughout the tournament, scoring 215 runs with three fifties and also topping the bowling charts with 22 wickets in nine games, earning her the Player of the Tournament award.

She said :

“Sir, it means that I have more belief in him than even in myself. Whenever such a time comes, when difficulties arise, I take his name, and I feel that I come out of those difficulties. That’s how much belief I have in him.”

Historic 2025 World Cup Victory

India created history on November 2 by winning their first-ever Women’s World Cup title. Harmanpreet Kaur and her team defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final held at the DY Patil Stadium, marking a landmark moment in Indian cricket.

The entire nation celebrated the achievement, and the team was invited by the Prime Minister to acknowledge their success. The victory was the result of years of effort, planning, and determination, with Deepti Sharma’s all-round brilliance and Harmanpreet’s inspiring leadership standing out as major highlights of the tournament.

Harmanpreet Kaur On Keeping The Winning Ball

During the same meeting, PM Modi also asked captain Harmanpreet Kaur about the final match moment where she kept the winning ball with her. The last wicket of the final was taken by Deepti Sharma, and Harmanpreet completed the catch.

The captain revealed that she felt it was destiny that the ball came to her after so many years of hard work. She added that it was a special moment gifted by God, and so she decided to keep the ball safely in her bag as a memory of India’s first World Cup triumph under her captaincy. With this triumph, Harmanpreet etched her name in history as the first Indian women’s team captain to lift a World Cup trophy.

She said :

“Sir, this was also God’s plan because it wasn’t like I knew the last ball and the last catch would come to me, but that ball came to me. And after so many years of hard work and waiting, I just thought that since it has come to me now, it will stay with me. It’s in my bag.”
