How Has Suryakumar Yadav Performed In T20s Since 2024?

Veteran batter Suryakumar Yadav is reportedly set to lose his role as India’s T20I captain, with multiple reports suggesting that Shreyas Iyer could take over the position. Although India lifted the T20 World Cup earlier this year under Suryakumar’s leadership, the 35-year-old endured a disappointing campaign with the bat, registering just one half-century, which came against the USA.

Reports also indicate that Suryakumar could be left out of the Indian T20I setup altogether as the team management begins preparations for the 2028 T20 World Cup. More clarity is expected when the BCCI announces the squad for the upcoming tours of Ireland and England on Saturday, June 6. The Mumbai batter has struggled to produce consistent performances for quite some time.

While he impressed during the T20I series against New Zealand before the 2026 T20 World Cup, that run appears to have been an exception rather than a sign of sustained form. If the reports prove true, Suryakumar may have already played his final match for India.
