Eight teams had reached the Super 8 stage of the tournament. While four advanced to the semifinals, the other four were knocked out at that stage. West Indies, Zimbabwe, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka will each earn $380,000 (around ₹3.48 crore).

In total, 20 teams took part in the tournament. The teams that were eliminated in the group stage will also receive $250,000 (around ₹2.29 crore) each as prize money.

India Return as Defending Champions at the T20 World Cup

India are the defending champions of the T20 World Cup and will be looking to keep their title when they take on New Zealand in the final of the current tournament. They won the trophy in 2024 after beating South Africa in a thrilling final, and will hope to produce another strong performance this time as well.

The Men in Blue finished top of Group A in the first round, winning all four of their matches. However, their unbeaten streak ended in the Super 8 stage when South Africa handed them a heavy 76-run defeat in their opening game.

Despite that loss, India quickly bounced back with wins over Zimbabwe and the West Indies. Those victories helped them reach the semifinal, finishing second in Group 1 in the Super 8 stage.
