“I Am An All-Format Player,” Hanuma Vihari Rubbishes Claims Of Being A Test Cricketer

Hanuma Vihari has built a reputation for himself in this short span in international cricket. His grit and determination to stay in the middle have earned applauds from all quarters. Many have already branded him as India’s Test specialist. However, Hanuma Vihari has quashed all those claims calling him an all-format player.

Although he is yet to bag a national cap in the white-ball cricket, Hanuma Vihari boasts a strong CV in List A cricket. The batsman from Andhra Pradesh averages over 45 in the 74 games with a strike-rate of over 80. He has also featured for India A and played some valuable knocks.

Despite enjoying his stint in red-ball cricket, the 26-year-old admits he can play all formats of the game. Hanuma Vihari also added very few people know that he averages so high in white-ball cricket because of his strong statistics in first-class cricket.

“Many people doesn’t know that I have a good average in List A,” Vihari said to Cricfit. “I am averaging so high in first-class cricket, they always think that I am a very good red-ball player but I for myself realise and understand that I can play all formats of the game. I also have the belief that I can do that,” he added. 

Speaking further, Hanuma Vihari sounded confident about breaking into the limited-over side. While things look gloomy as of now with the current squad set and the likes of Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav, and Manish Pandey waiting in the wings, but Vihari remains optimistic. He also vouched to score more run in whatever opportunity that comes his way to be in the good books of the selectors.

“It’s only a matter of time before an opportunity comes and I can prove that I am a good white-ball player as well. But for that to happen, I have to keep performing in whatever chances I get in international and domestic cricket,” Vihari, who has played nine Test matches for India signed off.
