“I Did Google It” – Sundar Pichai Praises Jasprit Bumrah’s Gabba Batting; Elon Musk Reacts With One Word

Jasprit Bumrah has been a key performer for India in the ongoing third Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test at The Gabba, with Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai also following the match closely. A clip was shared on X (formerly Twitter), showing Bumrah responding playfully to a question about his batting skills during the Gabba Test.

He humorously suggested the reporter “Google” who holds the record for most runs in a single over in Test cricket. Bumrah currently holds that record, having scored 35 runs off Stuart Broad in 2022. In an interesting twist, Sundar Pichai responded to the tweet, mentioning that he had indeed Googled it.

He also added that anyone capable of hooking Pat Cummins for a six surely knows how to bat, referring to the moment on day four (December 17) when Bumrah hit Cummins for a massive six during the 68th over of India’s innings.

Pichai further praised Bumrah’s batting performance, highlighting how he, alongside Akash Deep, helped India avoid the follow-on as they entered the final day of the Test.

“I did Google it:) anyone who can hook Cummins for a six knows how to bat! Well done @Jaspritbumrah93 saving the follow on with Deep!,” read Sundar’s tweet.

Even more intriguingly, Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded to Pichai’s tweet with a single word: “Nice.”

Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah helped India steer clear of the follow-on

Australia made 445 runs in their first innings and then reduced India to 213/9 on day four of the third BGT 2024-25 Test, putting India at risk of being forced to follow-on. India needed to reach 246 runs to avoid the follow-on with just one wicket remaining.

Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep teamed up to form an important unbroken 39-run partnership for the final wicket, allowing India to finish the day at 252/9 and avoid the follow-on. Bumrah remained not out on 10, while Deep was not out on 27, hitting two boundaries and a six.
