England Test captain Ben Stokes has said that the team will keep on looking to push for results in this format and will look to be more adventurous in the second Test match against Pakistan in Multan. The tourists currently lead the series 1-0 after a thrilling victory in the first outing.

In the first Test, Stokes declared with four sessions to go and was criticised by a few but ultimately, England won the game therefore, he received all the credit for this bold move.

Ahead of the second Test match, Ben Stokes hasn’t ruled out a funky move of declaring without batting. As quoted by The Telegraph, he said:

“We might see actually, in this Test, if it does pan out the way that it could potentially with the late start and early finish that we end up having only 300-350 overs in the Test match, we might have to get even a bit more adventurous with what we do. We’ll see. I might declare without batting one day, who knows?”

The English set a target of 343 and the hosts fell short by 74 runs and had a collapse from 259-6 to 268 all out. Ollie Robinson and James Anderson were the wreckers-in-chief for England with the ball.

“Definitely an added bonus” – Ben Stokes on Mark Wood’s return

Ben Stokes has stated that Mark Wood is likely to play in the second Test match against Pakistan given that there might be pace in the Multan pitch.

“It is definitely an added bonus. It’s a lot better having someone bowling 150kmp/h (93mph) bouncers rather than me, Robbo and Jimmy at 80mph trying to do it. I think wherever you go in the world, conditions, whatever it is, having someone at Woody’s pace is an absolute bonus,” Stokes added.

Since becoming England’s full-time Test skipper earlier this year, the 31-year-old has won seven out of eight matches.
