“I Promise This Is Just The Start”- Dhruv Jurel To His Parents After Earning His Maiden Test Call-Up

Dhruv Jurel, the young cricketer, posted a picture from his video call with parents after earning his first Indian Test team selection for the upcoming series against England.

Presently with the India A squad, Dhruv Jurel played against the England Lions in a two-day warm-up match, concluding in a draw last Saturday. Jurel showcased his talent with a 38-ball half-century on the same day, celebrating his inclusion in the Indian team with flair.

On Saturday evening, Dhruv Jurel posted a photo on his Instagram, featuring a video call with his father and mother. The trio appeared joyous, sporting heartfelt smiles in the picture.

Jurel conveyed appreciation for the chance, stating that it marks the beginning, and there is a lot more to come. In his caption, he wrote:

“Thank you will be an understatement. For all the sacrifices my mother and father have made, so that their boy could hold a bat and just play cricket. I promise this is just the start. Mummy, papa, aap dono se zamaana hai. Aur abhi bohot naam kamaana hai! 🤗❤.”

Dhruv Jurel rose to prominence in the previous IPL season with dynamic performances for Rajasthan Royals (RR). His impressive innings caught the eyes of fans and cricket experts.

In an ANI News interview following Jurel’s Test selection, RR head coach Kumar Sangakkara highlighted the youngster’s strong work ethic and expressed confidence in his future success. The Sri Lankan legend mentioned:

“Firstly, his work ethic and his demeanor. He understands pressure, he came last season in one of the most difficult positions and scored so many runs for us.”

“An absolute match winner in the short format but this is a really good test of his technique, character, and application being in the Test side. He’s always going to do well, he’s just that kind of player.”

To date, Jurel has participated in 19 first-class matches, amassing 791 runs with an average of 46.47, featuring a double-century and five half-centuries. Additionally, he showcased his fielding prowess by securing 34 catches and executing two stumpings while fulfilling the wicketkeeping duties.
