New Zealand’s left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel grabbed all the attention with his 10-wicket haul in an innings during the 2nd Test against India at the Wankhede Stadium. And now, Ajaz has shown keen interest to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

With two new teams introduced from the next season and the franchises going into a mega auction, the owners will have their eyes firmly placed on Ajaz following his exploits in India. And the left-arm spinner is looking forward to the stint if an opportunity comes up.

Speaking to NDTV, Ajaz said:

“Yeah, hopefully if the opportunity presents itself, I would love to play in the IPL [Indian Premier League] in India. It’s an amazing tournament. Everyone follows it really closely and it brings a lot of cheers and thrills around the world. So, it’s a great tournament and I will be privileged it the opportunity came.”

Ajaz Patel has represented the Kiwis in four T20Is, picking up seven wickets at an economy rate of below 5. He has also73 wickets from 62 games at an economy rate of 7.54 in the shortest format of the game.

“Beyond any of my wildest dreams” – Ajaz Patel on 10-wicket haul

The 33-year-old spinner reached the special feat last week and since then wishes have been flowing in. Ajaz became only the third cricketer after Jim Laker (1956) and Anil Kumble (1999) to reach this milestone.

Looking back at how the Test match went on, a humble Ajaz revealed that it was not in his bucket list.

“I don’t even think it (10-for in an innings) was on my bucket list. It was beyond imagination. I don’t think you even dream of achieving something as special as that. You need a lot of luck to go your away to be able achieve something like that. It was very very special, beyond any of my wildest dreams,” he added.
