ICC Announces Affordable Tickets For Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, Free Entry For Under-18s

With just over 20 days remaining until the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, excitement is building as the ICC announces an appealing ticket pricing strategy. Fans will be able to purchase match tickets starting at only five dirhams (approximately Rs 114.28), while entry will be free for those under 18 years old. This initiative, aimed at enhancing attendance and leaving a lasting impact on the tournament’s legacy in the UAE, was unveiled with a spectacular laser show projected onto the iconic Burj Khalifa.

Geoff Allardice, ICC Chief Executive, highlighted the significance of this move during a media conference on Wednesday, saying, “One of the exciting aspects of the UAE is its incredible diversity. It’s a place where the entire world is represented. This effectively makes this World Cup a home tournament for all 10 participating teams, allowing players to enjoy enthusiastic support from fans from various backgrounds. Hence, I am thrilled to announce that tickets will be available from just five dirhams, and entry will be free for those under 18.

The Women’s T20 World Cup is set to commence on October 3, with 10 teams competing in a total of 23 matches over an 18-day period, all striving for the prestigious Women’s T20 World Cup trophy. The teams are divided into two groups: Group A includes Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, while Group B features Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies, and Scotland.

The tournament will follow a round-robin format within each group, where every team plays against the other four teams in their group. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stages. The tournament will kick off in Sharjah with a match between Bangladesh and Scotland on October 3. The semi-finals are scheduled to be held on October 17 in Dubai and October 18 in Sharjah, with the grand finale taking place on October 20 in Dubai.

Before the main event, teams will engage in warm-up matches from September 28 to October 1, allowing them to fine-tune their preparations and adapt to the conditions. This strategic approach aims to create an inclusive and vibrant atmosphere, ensuring that fans of all ages can experience the thrill of world-class cricket.
