ICC Announces ODI Cricketer Of The Decade

International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the winners of the biggest individual award of the decade. The ICC has recognised the best player of the last decade and awarded him with cricketer of the award. Without any surprises, ICC chose Virat Kohli as the ODI cricketer of the decade.

Virat Kohli as a batsman ruled all formats in the past decade. The 32-year-old remained the only batsman to average in excess of 50 in all formats. On top of that Kohli scored a mind-boggling 71 international centuries and was miles ahead of everyone. The Indian captain scored 43 ODI centuries and 27 Test centuries. In T20Is, Kohli scored the most runs at a phenomenal average of over 50 and strike rate touching 140.

Meanwhile, Kohli was selected as a winner by the combination of fans, broadcasters, cricket legends and several cricket experts. The kind of impact Kohli had in ODI cricket in the past decade was second to none. Apart from the runs and centuries he also won the 2011 ICC cricket world cup and 2013 ICC champions trophy.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli was honoured after winning the ICC ODI cricketer of the decade award. Kohli also revealed some of his favourite ODI knocks in which he picked the 183 against Pakistan in 2012 which is still his highest score in the format. Also, Kohli spoke about the two brilliant centuries against Australia in 2013 at Nagpur and Jaipur. On both occasions, India was chasing a mammoth total and Kohli showed his mastery twice in a tense run chase.

“My only intention was to make winning contributions for the team and I just strive to do that in every game. Stats just become the byproduct of what you want to do on the field”, said Kohli in a video uploaded by ICC on Twitter.
