International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Jay Shah congratulated India’s star batter Virat Kohli on achieving his 51st ODI century and surpassing 14,000 runs in the 50-over format. Kohli became only the third cricketer to reach this milestone during India’s ICC Champions Trophy match against Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.
Jay Shah took to his official social media handle to praise Kohli’s elegant cover drive, which brought up the landmark.
“Congratulations @imVkohli on passing 14,000 ODI runs during the #ChampionsTrophy match against Pakistan here in Dubai – and what a classic cover drive to reach the milestone,” he wrote on Х.

Kohli’s unbeaten 100 off 111 balls, featuring seven fours, was a delight to watch. With a strike rate of 90.09, his knock helped India comfortably chase down Pakistan’s target of 241. This marked his sixth century in ICC ODI tournaments and his first in the Champions Trophy.
Kohli Becomes Third Batter to Surpass 14,000 ODI Runs, Joining Tendulkar and Sangakkara
Virat Kohli became the third batter to surpass 14,000 ODI runs, following Sachin Tendulkar (18,426 runs in 463 ODIs) and Kumar Sangakkara (14,234 runs in 404 matches). In 299 ODIs, he has amassed 14,085 runs at an impressive average of 58.20, including 51 centuries and 73 fifties.
In the India-Pakistan Champions Trophy clash, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat. They started well, with Babar Azam (23 off 26 balls, five fours) playing some elegant shots in a 41-run opening stand. However, after losing two quick wickets, Pakistan was reduced to 47/2.
Pakistan posted 247 in 49.4 overs, with Mohammad Rizwan (46) and Saud Shakeel (62) building a slow 104-run stand. Khushdil Shah (38) provided some late resistance, but the team fell short.
Chasing 242, India lost Rohit Sharma early (20), but solid partnerships—69 runs between Shubman Gill (46) and Virat Kohli (100*), followed by a 114-run stand with Shreyas Iyer (56)—secured a comfortable four-wicket win with 45 balls remaining.
