As the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is approaching, there are growing questions regarding stadiums in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi. The PCB has to deliver the stadiums to the ICC by January 25, which has given rise to fears over their readiness. Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium is also being reconstructed voluminously, as its measuring spectator capacity is set to be enhanced to more than 34,000, up from 21,500.
Some of the renovation works at the Gaddafi Stadium are a new pavilion to be developed for the players, match officials, and other dignitaries, together with five-star accommodation.
Furthermore, some new seats and state-of-the-art high-resolution replay screens are also to be provided. Since the tournament is set to begin on 19 February, PCB and ICC will monitor the progress of renovation work of the stadium for the successful ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Nevertheless, the PCB chairman’s assessments show that the reconstruction activities in Gaddafi Stadium seem to be less progressed than expected. In this recent video done by a Pakistani journalist, he shows the present stadium as being half complete. Employees have only occupationally begun to fit seats within one sector, while another part of the stadium is still under construction.
Most of the hospitality boxes are still 70% in construction with electrical works underway. Nevertheless, the part of the venue that contains a small gallery below the hospitality boxes has had only some reinforced concrete work done without actual flooring.
A huge amount of work needs to be done on the outside of the stadium as well; there are mounds of mud and bricks nearby. Currently, work has begun to install glass panes onto the main building; nevertheless, the basic construction of the foundations has not been completed.
Scaffolds have not yet been removed from cranes, and a coat of concrete is still needed to level the area of the stands. It only remains to be seen whether all the projects concerning the stadium will be on time for the much-needed ICC Champions Trophy 2025 event.
