Michael Vaughan, the ex-England captain, had previously raised concerns about the unoccupied seats at India’s ODI World Cup 2023 match in Delhi. The excitement of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 has permeated every corner of the country.
Although the competition’s anticipation has reached its peak, there have been numerous instances where the match venues appeared sparsely filled. This was notably evident during the tournament’s opening match between England and New Zealand, prompting many experts to highlight the issue.
Similarly, the issue of empty seats persisted when India faced Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on October 11. In response, former English captain Michael Vaughan voiced his dissatisfaction through the ‘X’ platform, expressing concern about the ongoing sparse attendance during Team India’s match in Delhi against Afghanistan.
“Why so many empty seats in #Delhi for the India Game !??? #INDvsAFG,” Vaughan tweeted on his ‘X’ handle.
Upon noticing Vaughan’s tweet, former Indian spin maestro Harbhajan Singh promptly responded by questioning whether Vaughan was observing the match or the vacant seats.
Harbhajan also pointed out that the empty stands might be attributed to the matches being scheduled on workdays and the heat in the mornings.
Notably, as the day progressed, the stands at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi gradually filled up, with numerous fans coming to support the Indian team in the evening as they secured their second victory of the tournament.
“Are u watching the game or empty seats ??” Harbhajan Singh tweeted on Vaughan’s post.
