ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Babar Azam Feels The ‘Heat’ As The Demand For India-Pakistan Tickets Increases

Babar Azam, Pakistan’s captain, emphasized that the pressure to secure tickets for the crucial ICC Cricket World Cup match against India in Ahmedabad is even more significant than the match itself.

The intense cricket rivalry between these two nations attracts a large global audience and passionate fans, making it a highly anticipated event.

India, coming off two consecutive wins, is full of confidence as they prepare to face their traditional rivals, Pakistan, at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium this Saturday.

When asked about the pressure leading up to this epic World Cup clash against India, Babar responded humorously but with a touch of reality, saying, “There’s more pressure for match tickets than the match itself.”

In their previous encounter at the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, India continued their unbeaten run against Pakistan, securing a dominant victory in the 22nd match at Old Trafford, Manchester.

The standout moment of the game was the remarkable performance by India’s opener, Rohit Sharma, who scored an impressive 140 runs from 113 deliveries, making a significant contribution to India’s imposing total of 336/5.

Despite rain interruptions that led to a shortened 40-over match, Pakistan could only manage to score 212/6, falling short by 89 runs according to the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method. This match further solidified India’s dominance over Pakistan in World Cup encounters, maintaining their flawless record.

‘We want to live in present’ – Babar Azam discussing India’s historical dominance over Pakistan in World Cup games

The run-up to the October 14th match has been dominated by India’s remarkable 7-0 record. Even though the Asian powerhouse’s impeccable T20 World Cup record has been tarnished.

Pakistan has been unable to overcome India in an ODI World Cup match since their first meeting in 1992. The Pakistan captain remains confident in their chances of defeating India, despite historical records favoring India as the stronger team.

“I think what has happened in the past is not important. We want to live in present. I think we can do well. India-Pakistan match is high-intensity. Believe in ourselves. There are a lot of fans coming. I think we have an opportunity to do well in front of fans,” he further stated.
