Bangladesh will face the Netherlands in the 2nd match of the doubleheader to be played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 28th October 2023. It promises to be an exciting contest between teams that are falling behind in the points table.
Netherlands are currently at number last place and would look to make a comeback after their 309 runs loss to Australia. On the other hand, Bangladesh also lost their previous match to South Africa by 149 runs.
Both teams would be looking to perform well and register their 2nd victory in the tournament. They have some top-quality players who can change the fortune of the game with their abilities.
Here we look at the 5 players to watch out for
- Liton Das
The dashing opener Liton Das looked in the previous match against South Africa. He played some lovely shots as they lost wickets cheaply which put them under pressure. Das can put pressure on the opponents right from word go.
He would be looking to put pressure on the Netherlands bowlers in the first 10 overs. His batting will decide the fate of the game and will look to showcase his domination that will help Bangladesh register a comprehensive win.
- Vikramjit Singh
Vikramjit Singh is a talented opening batter for the Netherlands. He was the top scorer for the Netherlands in the previous match against Australia where other batters struggled. His role is to provide an attacking start in the first 10 overs that would put Bangladesh bowlers under some pressure.
He will play a key role in hitting boundaries and keeping the strike rotating along with Max O Dowd. Singh would look to showcase attacking skills on a good batting pitch at Eden Gardens, Kolkata that would lay a strong foundation for helping the Netherlands register victory.
- Shakib AL Hasan
Bangladesh’s captain fell cheaply in the previous match against South Africa. He would be looking to prove his worth with both bat and ball. Shakib did not bowl his full quota of overs in the previous match taking the wicket of Aiden Markram.
He would play a key role with both bat and ball that would put pressure on the Netherlands team. Coming at number 4, Shakib AL Hasan needs to play a captain knock and pick wickets in middle overs that would create pressure on Netherlands batters who are not known to play spin well.
Shakib will look to perform well as a captain and help Bangladesh register their 2nd victory in the tournament.
- Logan Van Beek
Logan Van Beek was the pick of bowlers for the Netherlands in the previous match against Australia. He got an early breakthrough by dismissing Mitchell Marsh. Van Beek then dismissed the centurion David Warner providing a simple catch to Aryan Dutt.
Despite going for runs, Van Beek dismissed Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Starc. It was a superb bowling effort by the bowler picking up 4 for 79 runs in 10 overs.
He would be looking to do the same in the match against Bangladesh and hope to stem the flow of runs that would create enough doubt in the batter’s mind.
- Shoriful Islam
Shoriful Islam had a decent outing in the previous match against South Africa. He got the early breakthrough dismissing Reeza Hendricks and keeping the batters under pressure. After an early wicket, he was taken to cleaners by De Kock and Klassen in the death overs.
Islam can swing the ball and put the batters under immense pressure. The left-arm pacer would be looking for early wickets not allowing Netherlands batters to score runs easily.
His role is to keep picking wickets at regular intervals that would make sure that Netherlands does score big runs.
