ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: BCCI Clears Air About Orange Jersey For Team India In The Match vs Pakistan

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has put to rest any doubts surrounding Team India’s attire for their World Cup encounter against Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Following their opening match against Australia in the ICC World Cup 2023, Team India, captained by Rohit Sharma, is set to face Afghanistan and their arch-rivals, Pakistan, in the round-robin stage of this prestigious tournament. The highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan match will take place at the renowned Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on a Saturday.

Leading up to this fierce clash between the age-old rivals, there had been speculations about whether Team India would wear an alternative orange/saffron jersey, similar to what they did in the 2019 edition of the ICC World Cup in England and Wales.

Additionally, there were glimpses of the team wearing orange training jerseys in the build-up to their opening match against Australia in Chennai. The question on everyone’s mind was whether India would showcase an alternate jersey for the World Cup 2023.

To address these queries, Ashish Shelar, the honorary treasurer of the BCCI, stepped in to clarify the situation. Shelar categorically dismissed media reports suggesting that Team India would don an alternative kit against Pakistan, deeming them entirely baseless and mere products of imagination.

According to Shelar, Rohit Sharma and his team would proudly sport the traditional Team India colors, characterized by the vibrant shade of blue, throughout their campaign at the ICC World Cup.

As the excitement surrounding this marquee clash intensified, the BCCI announced the release of 14,000 tickets for the India vs. Pakistan match scheduled for October 14, 2023, in Ahmedabad. Having previously triumphed over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023, India was all set to reignite their rivalry with Babar Azam and his squad at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

The anticipation was so high that the world’s largest cricket stadium was expected to be packed to capacity, with fans eagerly awaiting this high-voltage encounter. The BCCI has unequivocally confirmed that Team India will not be donning an alternate kit for their World Cup match against Pakistan. Instead, they will proudly display their iconic blue colours.

Cricket enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the showdown at the Narendra Modi Stadium, with the release of 14,000 tickets adding to the excitement of this much-anticipated clash on October 14, 2023. Fans are urged to secure their tickets through the official ticketing website as soon as they become available on October 8, 2023, at 12 PM IST.
