South Africa has announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 to be played from 5th October onwards. Proteas qualified for the prestigious event after finishing 8th in the Super League tournament.

The batting department looks strong with the likes of Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Temba Bavuma, Heinrich Klassen, David Miller, Aiden Markram, and Rassie Van der Dussen. The major news coming out of this announcement as their star wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock will retire from ODI cricket after the World Cup 2023.

Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi. Gerald Coetzee made his ODI debut this year has picked 5 wickets in the two matches with 3 3-wicket haul against West Indies on 18th March 2023 at Buffalo Park, East London.

The spinners will play an important role in the 2023 World Cup. Tabraiz Shamsi and Keshav Maharaj have been included in the squad. However, South Africa will start their 2023 World Cup preparation against Australia in a 5-match ODI series starting on 7th October and going till 17th. They have named a strong unit with the likes of Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, David Miller, Heinrich Klassen, Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, Shamsi, and others looking to showcase their skills against a strong Australian unit.

South Africa will begin the World Cup journey with its first match against Sri Lanka at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi on 7th October. They would then face Australia in their 2nd match to be played at Lucknow on the 12th. After the blockbuster match against Australia, they will face the Netherlands at Dharmshala on 17th October. They would next face England at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on the 21st.

Their next match would be against Bangladesh at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 24th October. They would face Pakistan in Chennai on 27th October. After this fixture, they will face New Zealand at MCA Stadium, Pune on 1st November. South Africa will then take on India in their 8th match at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 5th November. Their final match would see them face Afghanistan at Ahmedabad on 10th November.
