Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf underwent scans for a possible rib sprain ahead of their ICC ODI World Cup 2023 World Cup match against England. He was taken to a local hospital in Kolkata following Pakistan’s win against New Zealand on Sunday, as per reports. However, the injury is not considered to be serious.
According to a report by Geo News, Haris Rauf complained of feeling a sprain in his ribs. He underwent an MRI test to assess a potential sprain. However, the team management confirmed to Geo News, that it is not serious, terming it as a “routine” medical procedure. There has been no official confirmation from the Pakistan Cricket Board on Haris Rauf. The pacer is likely to play against England in their upcoming match.

Haris Rauf had a forgettable outing against New Zealand in their previous match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. He was taken to the cleaners by the New Zealand batters. Rauf conceded 85 runs off 10 overs, taking one wicket. During the game, the pacer set a new record for conceding the most number of sixes in a single edition of the World Cup. He also became the first bowler from Pakistan to concede 80-plus runs twice in an edition. Overall, Rauf has taken 13 wickets in eight matches at an economy rate of 6.79.

Pakistan’s win against New Zealand has kept their hopes alive in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 knockout race. They are fifth on the table with eight points from as many matches. New Zealand, who is at fourth, also has eight, but a better NRR. Pakistan needs to win against England in their final. However, they will also need New Zealand and Afghanistan to lose their remaining games. The Babar Azam-led team will take on England on Saturday, November 11 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
