New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson is all praise for Virat Kohli, who slammed his 50th One-Day International century in the semi-final of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 against the Kiwis on Wednesday, November 16 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He expressed that it’s a special achievement to score 50 centuries in the format.

Virat Kohli slammed 117 runs off just 113 deliveries, including nine boundaries and two sixes to achieve the milestone. He surpassed Sachin Tendulkar and now leads the list of Most Centuries scored in ODI cricket. Team India won the match by 70 runs, storming into the final of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Hailing the veteran India batter, Kane Williamson said at the press conference,

“I mean that’s something quite special, I think if you play 50 games, some people would call that a great career to get 50 hundred. Trying to find the words to describe it really and not just that, actually, the way he goes about it, it’s actually about winning games for his team and he’s getting close and there’s a lot of attention and that comes with a lot of his success, but actually it was always about pushing his team forward and so yeah, I mean he’s the best isn’t he?”

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson further expressed that Virat Kohli just keeps getting better with time. He added that it’s incredible to witness his batting performance and admires his greatness. Virat Kohli has been in great form in the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023. He has scored 711 runs at an average of 101.57, including three centuries and five fifties.

“He seems to be getting better, which is a worry for opposition all around the world, but you admire it. It’s incredible really. Although tough to be on the other side of it today, I think in time to come, well it probably won’t take too long, they were outstanding, you actually just admire his greatness and yeah, he’s just getting better that guy,” said Kane Williamson.
