Team India

Team India

Team India will take on England at Ekana Stadium, Lucknow on 29th October 2023. It promises to be an exciting encounter with the Indian team proving their domination winning all five matches so far and hoping for another impressive performance.

On the other hand, England is currently struggling as they lost their previous match against Sri Lanka after the batters posted just 156 and could not defend the target. They would be looking to play attacking cricket as they have mathematical chances of qualifying for the semi-final stage.

Both teams have top-quality players who can change the course of the game with their abilities. The Indian team would look to win this match and qualify for the semi-finals.

Here we look at the 5 Players To Watch Out For

  1. Shubman Gill

The dashing opener Shubman Gill looked in good touch against New Zealand with attacking shots in the first 10 overs against Trent Boult, Matt Henry, and Co. His batting made bowlers think and keep the momentum going for Team India.

He would be looking to provide another superb start in the tournament along with Rohit Sharma that will create enough pressure on England bowlers. Playing his first World Cup match against England, his batting would ensure that India registered a victory and qualified for the semi-finals.

  1. Jonny Bairstow

Jonny Bairstow looked impressive in the previous match against Sri Lanka. He showed intent right from the word go and put pressure on opening bowlers. It was an attacking beginning for Bairstow but was not able to convert it into a big score.

Bairstow played a total of 17 matches (16 innings) and scored 627 runs including 2 centuries and 2 half-centuries with the best score of 124. He would be looking to provide positive start against the top-quality bowling of India comprising of Bumrah, Shami, Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav.

When these two teams met in WC 2019, Bairstow scored 111 runs laying a strong foundation for England to build a huge total.

  1. Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli has been in sensational form of late. He produced another magical innings scoring 95 runs against New Zealand at Dharamshala. His batting looked impressive as he kept losing wickets from the other end and fell short of his century by just 5 runs.

King Kohli has a tremendous performance against England in ODIs with 1340 runs from 35 matches (35 innings) including 4 centuries and 3 half-centuries including the best score of 122. Coming at number 3, Kohli would be looking to continue his sublime form that would help Team India to register a victory.

  1. Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes looked out of touch in the previous match against Sri Lanka. He came at the crease with England losing their 3rd wicket. His batting struggled initially against disciplined Sri Lanka bowling.

After a few deliveries, he played some attacking shots that came off which kept Sri Lanka on the backfoot. England lost wickets at regular intervals but Stokes played positive intent shots. He was the top scorer with 43 and would hope to provide a brilliant knock against top-quality Indian bowling.

5. Kuldeep Yadav

The left-arm chinamen bowler Kuldeep Yadav was expensive in the previous match going for 73 runs in his 10 overs and getting 2 wickets. He dismissed Tom Latham and Glenn Phillips to stem the flow of runs.

With the conditions likely to help the spin bowlers, Kuldeep Yadav would play a key role in putting pressure on England batters who are struggling for form. His wickets in middle overs would allow him to keep them attacking and help Team India register victory to qualify for the semi-finals.

He has a decent record against England in ODI format with 10 wickets from 6 matches at an economy of 6.31 runs per over including best figures of 6 for 25 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
